2025 Year in Review

First Rally of 2025

Our first 2025 rally was held in Diamond Valley.  This is becoming a tradition as the location is close to most of our members and it serves as a good place to get our rigs up and running again.  This rally was blessed with great weather and a strong turn out of members.  We had been very lucky to receive a donation of an AED machine for our club.  We hired Cintas to provide a review of how to use the AED to those attending the rally.  This was well received by the members.  The remainder of the rally included games, happy hours, campfires and a dinner out at the Black Diamond Hotel.  Again, the weather was very cooperative for early May and was appreciated by those attending.

June 2025

In June, we headed to the Drumheller area at Hand Hills High Country campground.  We ran into rather heavy rains and wind on the first night but were able to use a shelter to get together.  Rain was heavy overnight but by morning the sun was making an appearance.  A planned trip to a local coal mine was abandoned when we heard that we would be in the presence of about 100 grade school kids, perhaps a bit challenging for our age demographics.  While at the campground our phones received a tornado alert, and we later found out a tornado had occurred about 30 km north of us.  In spite of these weather challenges, the group enjoyed hot breakfasts, a dinner, a mini-golf game that was unique to say the least and the usual assortment of games, campfires and good times.

July 2025

In July eleven rigs headed out on our annual Caravan.  This year we started the 10 day event in Camrose where we visited a Railway museum, had the first of many great pot-luck suppers and began to evolve our campfire song repertoire.  The next stop was Lloydminster at CampN RV, a truly impressive campground.  A highlight (for some) was a visit to an Escape Room, which was a first-time experience for all.  This stop included a dinner in town and some of the most contested card and dice games of the trip.  Our third stop was Greig Lake in Meadow Lake Provincial Park, Saskatchewan.  The worst part of this leg was the road leading to and from the park, that was as rough a road as many could remember taking their RV’s on.  However, the group campsite was great, quiet and comfortable, although we were visited by a young curious bear during the evening campfire.  The group participated in ladder golf and a round of mini-golf at the on-site course.  Stop Four was Battleford, Saskatchewan.  The group arrived and headed out to a four-course meal in a local restaurant that had opened to accommodate us.  On Day 2, we visited Fort Battleford for a pre-arranged 1.5 hour extensive tour with a dedicated guide.  Weather hit hard in the afternoon and kept us in our rigs, but we managed to emerge for a fireside chat in the evening.  Our final stop was in Pike Lake Saskatchewan, near Saskatoon.  This park is impressive, with a great group camping area, a pool, mini-golf and overall excellent facilities.  A highlight of our stop was the annual Wine and Cheese competition, where several members donated wine for tasting and rating.  The final event was a pizza night where several extra-large pizzas were consumed.  With generally great weather and excellent companionship, the Caravan was enjoyed by all.

Salmon Fest!

Another annual highlight is our Salmon Fest.  One member generously used his family connections to obtain a large supply of salmon for our annual feast.  This year, we travelled to Camp Rocky Mountain House in mid August.  Weather was absolutely perfect for the entire weekend.  The group enthusiastically enjoyed various games, including our first Bocce Ball championship.  However, the highlight was the Salmon feast, prepared to perfection and served with side dishes and salads.

Last Event of 2025

The final event of the year was held in Rimbey Lions campground.  Highlights included the revival of a “bus” game featuring pari-mutual wagering and intense crowd participation.  Hot meals were provided and a pot-luck supper again showed the talents of our members.  We also visited a local brewery and a museum featuring a wide variety of International Harvester trucks and local equipment.

Again, the weather was excellent, and we completed our rally season in good condition and spirts.
